About Arthur Griffiths

Award Winning Business Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, Mental Health Advocate

Born and raised in Vancouver, BC Arthur Griffiths is an award-winning businessman and philanthropist.

His career began with him selling season ticket renewals over the phone for the NHL team, the Vancouver Canucks in the ‘70s. In 1981 he became the youngest Vice-Chairman and CEO in the NHL with the Canucks. During his tenure as NHL Governor, he was a driving catalyst in allowing the best players in the NHL to compete in the Olympic Games. This put the sport of ice hockey into the global spotlight like it had never been seen before and gave players the chance to “Go for Gold”!

In 1994, Griffiths became the youngest owner, Chairman/CEO and Governor in the NBA with the acquisition of the Vancouver Grizzlies Basketball team. In the same year he privately financed and built the $160 million dollar sports arena, GM Place (now Rogers Arena). It has been regarded as one of Canada’s finest arenas ever since.
